Savon de Marseille means "Soap from Marseille" -- France's souther port city on the Mediterranean Sea. Marseille soap is a hard soap, which can take different sizes and shapes: cube, retangle oval, or chips and flakes. It must be made from vegetable oils exclusively, without perfume, Without coloring, without additives or preservatives
Fresh Marseille Soap can be a bit moist. Allowing it to dry but setting it in a cool dry place will allow it to harden and will make it last longer.
The fine white powder on the surface of the soap is a bit of the sea salt used in the manufacture of Savon de Marseille, which will disappear once the soap is wet.
During the traditional production of Marseille Soap, the soap maker put in the cauldron at least 72% of vegetal oil (Palm, Copra and Olive). The 72% stamp ensures it. Consequently, you can see this stamp both on the white and the green Marseille Soap.
Savon de Marseille is traditionally green or white. The white soap is made with palm oil, the green with at least 50% olive oil. Both varieties are exquisite, ultra-moisturizing skin care. Marseille Soap is recommended by dermatologists throughout the world for dry skin and other ailments. Its incredible purity and moisturizing properties make it ideal for sensitive skins. In France it has been trusted for generations to cleanse everything from linens to little faces.
The ingredients are palm/olive oil, ash from Mediterranean sea plants, water, and sea salt. For crushed flower soaps- the finest natural fragrances, colors, essential oils and flowers from the South of France are added.
Both are made according to the strict standards for Savon de Marseille manufacture. In the heart of Marseille the legendary factory blends pure ingredients in huge, ancient cauldrons considered national treasures. They are then hand cut and stamped with the iconic markings protected by French law. For the Hard Milled, in a process both historic and modern, the mix is then mechanically cut and pressed into a harder soap of exceptional quality.
The ingredients are water, potassium olenate, potassium cocoate, sodium chloride, tetrasodium glutamate diacetate, caramel, linalool, limonene, and the finest fragrances from the South of France.
This occurs due to the presence of the vegetable oil that we use to enrich our products and disappears when the temperature rises without altering the quality of the product.
The purest palm and olive oils, rich shea butter and the finest fragrances from the South of France.
